Err, I like Seinfeld AND South Park. But I'm odd like that.
I had a long drawn out argument on my blog about The IT Crowd after the first episode. My point was not about funny vs unfunny but the quality of the writing. Doing jokes about people using computers/phones that are not plugged-in twice in your pilot episode shows a dreadfully lazy writer who can't think of anything original to say.
Saw an ancient episode of Seinfeld on Monday and was tempted to get on my knees and worship at the altar of deeply intelligent comedy writing. Silly done right. "New shower heads that give them all flat hair" - Can you imagine the IT Crowd trying to do that plotline. Shudder.
No, but I think, and I've only seen three episodes of The IT Crowd, that they're deliberately going for some kind of New Simplicity or something. Still, people didn't like Darkplace so we get what we deserve.
I liked the first season, but then I am the IT department at work and I'm in the basement, and I do ask everyone to reboot their machine as a first resort.
Saw the first episode of Season 2 and wasn't very impressed but have 2 further episodes sitting on HDD to catch up on.
Btw, I love Seinfeld and South Park - two of the best comedy shows of recent years. Off the top of my head, only Frasier, Father Ted and Trailer Park Boys reach the same level.

I gave up after Episode 1 Season 1.
Any ads I've seen since have confirmed I made the right decision.
I haven't seen so much ham since I last visited a pig farm.

It's an unusual one - has quite a silly flavour and very little of the mean-spiritedness of a lot of modern comedy.

It's totally not funny I have to say. I decided to give Season 2 a chance and now want my life back.

Heh, comedy is an odd one. Some people don't like Seinfeld. And find South Park funny.

darkplace is a real hidden gem. God I loved that series - I think you had to have grown up in the 80's to really appreciate darkplace.

That's something I'm investigating with my students. They've seen so much rerun tv that the A Team seems native to them.

I've only ever seen 1 episode of the IT crowd (Series 2, Ep 1) and I didn't find it very funny. But I just watched 3 clips on you tube and all three made me laugh out loud. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkiDaU0CBRs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5IBJaLU3v4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2Q6xbEZ-f0
